Jasmine is steeped in the floral language of love and ‘grande passion’. Just as Lord Krishna brought the jasmine tree from heaven for his beloved wife, Rukmini, Sir Thomas Millington, the noted 18th century English physician and adventurer, brought back the purest jasmine flower from India as an act of love to England. Created by perfumer Céline Barrel, Jasmine in Tangerine eau de parfum is a contemporary tribute to this romantic expedition. It is a radically impertinent take on Jasmine that marries, with a charming irreverence, the exotic solar beauty of the Indian flower and the sparkling suavity of a tangerine squeeze, a fruit delicacy exclusively enjoyed by the Royal Society in the 1800’s. Jasmine in Tangerine is built around the solar florality of Sambac Jasmine and the tangy freshness of mandarin essence (as a fruit aficionado, the Bear has pointed out that while all tangerines are mandarins, not all mandarins are tangerines). Fruitier and greener than Grandiflorum Jasmine, the floral facets of Sambac Jasmine absolute blend deliciously with the sweet and lightly candied nuances of mandarin alongside pink pepper at the top. The heart is an intoxicating bouquet of white flowers, containing sumptuous notes of ylang ylang, gardenia and Osmanthus, which then gives way to a sensual dry-down of white cedar and vanilla that rounds out this fragrance dedicated to the most British of exotic flowers.
